It is that time of year again, the get-together holiday season! The time when you get invited to family and friends house parties, potlucks, work functions, religious events, or the kids school pageants, you name it, you will get an invite for it! These functions give us a chance to catch up with friends, family and colleagues that we may not see too often otherwise. So what is the proper gift to bring? It’s a question many people silently wonder when wanting to show their gratitude to the host.
Here are a few tips to consider when selecting that token of appreciation:
- Proper etiquette says to select something appropriate for your hostess and their audience–not your own personal wants.
- Ask if anything is needed for the gathering that you can specifically contribute. Make sure not to make it a last minute question either.
- Keep it appropriate. Your host might get the joke or hidden meaning but others around might not.
- Don’t give a gift that requires a lot of attention. Anything that entails being put together, or involves complicated instructions or explanation takes time away from hosting.
Why not step outside the box a little and skip the traditional bottle of wine, serving tray, travel mug, Christmas decoration, or poinsettia plant. Bring one of Debbie’s Hostess platters. Everyone will find items that appeal to them as we offer vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan-friendly options.
Have a safe and happy holiday season!
